Getting Started

IntentNote is an AI-powered note-taking app designed for intentional writing. It combines structured note types, daily inspiration, project organization, cloud sync, and Lumi, the built-in AI assistant. One of its strongest advantages is that it continuously provides a growing range of online templates for different real-life uses, and this template experience is planned to evolve into a richer marketplace over time.
IntentNote requires an account to use. You can sign in with Google, Apple, or email. Signing in enables cloud sync, AI features, and multi-device access.

Account & Login

If you signed up with email, tap "Forgot password" on the login screen and we’ll send a reset link to your email. If you signed in with Google or Apple, your password is managed by that provider, so reset it at your Google Account or Apple ID security page. If the reset email doesn’t arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder and confirm you’re using the email address you signed up with. Still stuck? Email us at support@intentnote.com from your signup address and we’ll help you get back in.
The email you sign in with depends on the provider you chose at signup. If you signed in with Google or Apple, you can change the underlying email at that provider, or move to a different provider altogether. If you signed up with email directly, open Settings > Account in the app — you can update it from there. If the option isn’t available or the change requires manual verification, please follow the steps in “Help & report a problem” below.
From any signed-in device, go to Settings > Account and remove the device you no longer want connected. If your device was lost or stolen, remove it right away — and if you signed up with email, we recommend resetting your password as well. For Google or Apple sign-in, you can also revoke IntentNote’s access from your Google Account or Apple ID security page for an extra layer of protection.

Features

IntentNote supports four note types: General for free-form writing, Deadline To-Do for tasks with due dates and reminders, Lifelong Goals for long-term aspirations with structured progress tracking, and Inspiration Collection for capturing ideas and creative sparks. You can also use custom templates from the Template Store.
Projects let you group related notes together. You can assign any note to one or more projects to keep your work organized. Projects sync across devices along with your notes.
Daily Inspiration delivers curated motivational quotes and thought-provoking messages to your home screen each day. You can enable or disable this feature and customize delivery time in Settings.

AI & Lumi

Lumi is IntentNote's built-in AI assistant. It can analyze your notes, suggest next steps, generate titles, provide deep analysis, expand on your ideas, and help structure your thoughts. Lumi is designed as a reference tool — its outputs are for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional advice.
Each AI feature (analysis, deep analysis, title generation, etc.) consumes credits. The number of credits included depends on your subscription plan. You can check your remaining credits in Settings. Credits reset each billing cycle. Please check the app for the latest credit allocations per plan.
Only when you explicitly use an AI feature (such as analysis or title generation) is the relevant note content sent to our server, which then forwards it to an AI provider (Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI) for processing. AI providers do not use your data for model training. Your notes are never sent without your direct action. AI results are provided for reference only and accuracy is not guaranteed.
Your AI credits reset at the start of each billing cycle — you can see the next reset date in Settings > Subscription. If you’d like more credits sooner, you can upgrade to Starter, Pro, or Premium from Settings > Plan in the mobile app. In the meantime, all non-AI features (notes, sync, Daily Inspiration) keep working as usual. Plan changes are handled in the mobile app, so open IntentNote on your phone or tablet to upgrade.
Yes — Lumi handles analysis, title generation, and deep analysis in Korean, English, and Japanese, and replies in the language of the note you’re working on. That said, AI can sometimes produce awkward phrasing or inaccurate results, so use Lumi as a reference and double-check before relying on it for important decisions. If you keep seeing the same kind of quality issue, head to the “Help & report a problem” section below with the note language, the prompt you used, and the response you got — those details help us improve.

Subscription & Payment

IntentNote offers a Free plan with basic features and limited AI credits, plus premium plans (Starter, Pro, Premium) that unlock more AI credits, additional devices, and advanced features. For the latest pricing and plan details, please check the upgrade screen within the app.
Subscriptions are managed through the platform where you purchased them. To subscribe, go to Settings > Upgrade Plan in the app. To cancel or change your plan, use the subscription management tools provided by your purchase platform, such as Google Play, the Apple App Store, or our web payment flow. Changes generally take effect at the next billing cycle, subject to the policies of that platform.
Refunds and payment issues are handled according to the policies of the platform where you made your purchase, such as Google Play, the Apple App Store, or our web payment provider. Please use that platform's support or billing channel first, because refund eligibility and processing times depend on its operating policies.
Family sharing isn’t currently supported, so a subscription only applies to the account that purchased it. Notes are also single-user for now — there’s no co-editing or shared workspaces. Broader sharing is on our radar for future updates, and we’ll announce any changes here on this page and inside the app.
Payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchase, so receipts and billing history are issued and viewable on those platforms. On iOS, check your Apple ID Purchase History or the receipt email from Apple. On Android, check your Google Play payment activity or the receipt email from your Google account. This covers most cases. Only when the platform itself can’t issue what you need — for example, a business tax invoice — please use the “Help & report a problem” section below and include the payment date, platform, and store order number so we can guide you. Note that IntentNote doesn’t issue receipts directly because all payments are routed through the platform.

Sync & Devices

When signed in, your notes sync automatically across all registered devices via cloud sync. IntentNote uses CRDT (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types) technology so edits on different devices are merged without conflicts. We strive for reliable sync, but cannot guarantee perfection in all network conditions.
Each plan has a maximum number of devices. If you reach your limit, you'll need to remove an existing device before adding a new one. You can manage your devices from Settings > Account Management. Upgrading your plan increases the device limit.
First, make sure both devices are signed in with the same account (the same Google, Apple, or email login) and connected to the internet on the latest app version. On the device that’s missing notes, force-quit and reopen the app, or pull to refresh in Settings > Sync. IntentNote uses CRDT-based merging, so edits across devices reconcile without conflicts, but network conditions can occasionally delay sync by a few minutes. Only if notes still don’t appear after waiting a few minutes, please reach out via the “Help & report a problem” section below with your device model, OS version, and the steps that led to the issue.
You can keep writing offline — your edits are saved locally and sync automatically the next time you reconnect. If you’ve made changes on more than one device offline, IntentNote merges them cleanly when they come back online. As a precaution, after important edits we recommend briefly connecting to the internet to confirm sync, since a force-close or device reset before sync completes could lose unsynced changes.

Data Backup & Export

Yes, and you don’t need a backup file. Install IntentNote on the new device, sign in with the same account you used before (Google, Apple, or your email), and cloud sync will automatically restore your notes, projects, and lifelong goals. The first sync can take a little while if you have a lot of data, so we recommend connecting to stable Wi-Fi. Once everything’s transferred, you can remove the old device from Settings > Account to keep your registered device list tidy.
Yes, for a limited time. Deleted notes go to Trash first, where you can open the note and tap Restore to bring it back. Once Trash is emptied or the retention period passes, deletion becomes permanent and we won’t be able to recover it on our side. You can check the exact retention window on the in-app Trash screen.
Cloud sync acts as your automatic backup — sign in to any device with the same account and your notes will be there. File-based export and bulk-backup options vary by app version, so check Settings in the latest version of the app for what’s currently available. In the unlikely event that the service ever shuts down, our Terms commit to providing at least a 30-day window for you to export your data.

Notifications & Reminders

Reminders need permission to send push notifications. Open your system Settings > Notifications, make sure IntentNote is allowed, and check that Do Not Disturb or Focus modes aren’t blocking it. Then, in the app, confirm that the note has a deadline and a reminder set, and that in-app notifications are enabled. If reminders still don’t arrive, update to the latest version, sign out and sign back in, then try again. Only if the issue persists after all the steps above, head to the “Help & report a problem” section below with your device model and OS version so we can investigate.
Daily Inspiration delivers a daily message to your home screen. You can turn it on or off, and change the delivery time, in the app’s Settings. If a new delivery time isn’t reflected right away, relaunch the app and the change will take effect.

Privacy & Security

Your notes are stored in an encrypted local database and synced to Google Firebase (GCP asia-northeast3 region) over HTTPS/TLS, with cloud-side data encrypted at rest using AES-256. We follow industry-standard security practices, including least-privilege access for our team, regular security reviews, and a commitment to notify you promptly if anything affects your data. Your own habits help too — a strong password and a screen lock on your device go a long way. Security is an ongoing effort, and we keep reviewing and improving our practices as the threat landscape changes. For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
Your notes stay protected in the cloud — Google Firebase (GCP asia-northeast3 region) — encrypted at rest and in transit, as described in our security overview. To keep using them, just sign in to your account on a new device. To block the missing one, go to Settings > Account and remove it from your registered devices. If you signed up with email, we also recommend resetting your password, and on the Google or Apple side, you can use Find My Device or Find My iPhone to lock or wipe the phone remotely. If you notice anything suspicious in your account, email support@intentnote.com and we’ll help you sort it out.
